Harvest Outreach Centre is a non-profit organization that was established in 2002 in Ratanda Township in Heidelberg, Lesedi Municipality and registered in terms of the section (18A) of the (South African) Incomes Tax Act (“ITA”) thus enabling donors to claim a tax deduction up to a certain limit.
We are devoted to the development of previously disadvantaged individuals (PDIs), particularly youth, women, and children, in various aspects. The organization focuses on empowering people to move from dependency to self-sufficiency through skills development, thereby enabling them to lead more comfortable, secure, sustainable, and independent lives. Our motto is “Transforming Communities…One Neighbor at a Time.”
Harvest operates socio-economic development programs in economically depressed areas in Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Northern Cape, and Western Cape. In these regions, a substantial proportion of young people are faced with socio-economic challenges including various social ills from substance abuse, teenage pregnancy and mental health issues. This situation is exacerbated by high levels of youth unemployment and lack of work readiness skills.
The organization serves as a robust advocate for the development of disadvantaged individuals, with a particular emphasis on youth, women, and children.
It is dedicated to assisting those who aspire to transition from dependency to self-sufficiency, facilitating a shift from welfare to empowerment through skill development. This approach enables individuals to lead productive and sustainable lives.
The Harvest Outreach Centre has designed its programs with the aim of addressing the interrelated challenges of poverty, inequality, and unemployment.
