A non-profit in Ratanda, Heidelberg, helping people move from dependency to self-sufficiency through skills, health and community programmes.

Harvest Outreach Centre is a non-profit organization that was established in 2002 in Ratanda Township in Heidelberg, Lesedi Municipality and registered in terms of section 18A of the South African Incomes Tax Act, enabling donors to claim a tax deduction up to a certain limit.

We are devoted to the development of previously disadvantaged individuals, particularly youth, women, and children. The organization focuses on empowering people to move from dependency to self-sufficiency through skills development, thereby enabling them to lead more comfortable, secure, sustainable, and independent lives. Our motto is “Transforming Communities… One Neighbour at a Time.”

Harvest operates socio-economic development programmes in economically depressed areas in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Northern Cape, and the Western Cape. In these regions a substantial proportion of young people face socio-economic challenges including substance abuse, teenage pregnancy and mental health issues. This is exacerbated by high levels of youth unemployment and a lack of work-readiness skills.

It is dedicated to assisting those who aspire to transition from dependency to self-sufficiency, facilitating a shift from welfare to empowerment through skills development. This approach enables individuals to lead productive and sustainable lives.

The Harvest Outreach Centre has designed its programmes with the aim of addressing the interrelated challenges of poverty, inequality, and unemployment.

To establish a premier centre for integrated development that fosters a transformed community characterised by economic prosperity, interdependence, and psychosocial empowerment — free from social ills, stigmatisation, discrimination, and both lifestyle and communicable diseases.
To alleviate poverty and its impacts on humanity, reducing unemployment and economic disparities through education, capacity building, and the development of relevant skills.
To drive social change through innovative and sustainable development models, ensuring a nation free from HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, and social issues such as teenage pregnancy and abuse.
To instil a sense of purpose, personal competence, pride, and responsibility within the community, cultivating stronger communities of individuals who aspire to transition from dependency to independence.
